Here at Roker Methodist Church we believe that belonging takes precedent over believing or behaving. Although we are predominantly an ageing congregation we look to be welcoming to all, regardless of age, class, sexuality, denomination or circumstance.
We would love you to come and join us on our journey of exploration into Gods' love and grace.
It is with sadness that we recommend that worship services in Methodist Churches are suspended for the time being in line with Government guidance. We would encourage people who lead services to think about how worship might be offered in different ways, including online and using worship at home sheets.
During this incredibly difficult time when people might want to spend time in prayer in their Methodist Church. Local trustees should consider whether it is possible to open up their churches to enable people to come and pray or sit quietly, perhaps offering prayer stations as a point of reflection with precautions around physical distancing.
Suspending services means that we need to think about our pastoral response to vulnerable and at risk groups within our community, if you would like to help with this please contact Gareth on 0191 548 1688 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are also producing supplementary worship/study materials for those who would like them
If you would like an audio recording of the worship material please get in touch.
God Bless and look after yourself.

Rev. Gareth Phillips started his ministry in Roker in September 2012 after studing for a BA in ministry and theology at Durham university.
Gareth was born and raised in the North East of England and was a teacher of Science in several North Eastern Schools before moving into ministry. He is married to Jackie and has two children Matthew and Charlotte, he enjoys running, cycling and surfing (when his busy schedule allows) and is a fan of Middlesbrough Football club. He has been highly influenced by the writings of Rob Bell and Brian McLaren and describes his theology as liberal post evangelical !!!!!!!!
